A
changing table is a fairly common nursery addition. Since you're going to be changing your baby's diapers frequently, a changing table provides you with a comfortable place to do so. It raises the baby up to a comfortable height while you do the change, and provides a soft pad on top so that baby can be comfortable while being changed.
While this isn't an absolute necessity, it's a great convenience, especially since many are
changing tables with drawers for quick storage of frequently needed items. Even when the table doesn't have drawers, it will usually have shelves for the same purpose, the result being that everything is directly visible, which can be both good and bad.
Changing tables combined with dressers usually have the changing space on top, but some have an open-out style that you might want to think twice about before purchasing. While it may seem convenient to have the extra fold-out space, you'd need to be sure that you have enough stuff in the dresser, or a heavy enough piece, to provide a counterweight, and baby clothes are quite light.
